West Norwalk Association Board Meeting
September 10, 2012
Minutes of the West Norwalk Association
September 10, 2012
Board members present were: Galen Wells, Ron Brown, Anthony Carrano, Gay Mac Leod, Ken D’Arinzo, Donna Dolle’, Regina Krummel, Martin O’Connell and Linda Forcellina. Andrea Hirsch and Leticia Forker were guests. Absent were: Candide Valadares, Ron Paladino and Ron Brown.
Co-President Linda Forcellina called the meeting to order at 7:38 and welcomed the Board and guests to the meeting.
Galen Wells presented the minutes of the July meeting to the Board. Donna Dolle’ moved to accept the minutes and Martin O’Connell seconded the motion. The minutes were accepted.
Donna Dolle’ presented the Treasurer’s Report. Our Treasury is slowly being depleted. We need to collect dues at the Holiday Party and Annual Meeting. Martin moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report and Ken D’Arinzo seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Gay Mac Leod gave a report on the newsletter. Peggy had always done the newsletter and had all the information on how to do it. Gay and Linda have been struggling with the task but it has been very difficult. Ron Brown wrote a wonderful article for the newsletter on the burning of Norwalk during the American Revolution. There was no room in the newsletter, so it will be printed separately and handed out at the Annual Meeting and put on the web site.
Gay presented the agenda for the Annual Meeting. There are two entrances to the Sons of Italy site. We need to direct people to the top entrance. Ken, Candide, Donna and Anthony will man the tables. Martin moved to accept the agenda. Donna seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Linda presented the revisions to the By-Laws of the West Norwalk Association. A discussion was had about saying that we would make a donation to Fox Run School and a Scholarship in the By-Laws. The amount is not specified so the group decided to leave the donations in. Ken moved to accept the changes in the By-Laws and Regina seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Gay updated the Board on the web site and Linda shared the thank you notes from the scholarship recipients.
Ken made the Nominating Committee Report. Linda and Gay were nominated as co-presidents, Galen was nominated as vice president, Donna as secretary and Ken as treasurer. Regina said there should be two vice presidents and she nominated Ron Paladino. Galen said she had discussed it with Ron and he said he was not interested in being co-vice president. Therefore, Ken moved to cast one ballot for the slate and the motion passed unanimously.
Anthony suggested that we approach West Norwalk businesses and ask them if they would give a discount to dues paying members of the WNA. If we publicize this we would benefit the businesses with extra business and encourage people to pay dues. The consensus was that this was a good idea and the details would be discussed at a later meeting after Anthony got more information.
Martin moved to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00.
Respectfully submitted,
Galen Wells, Secretary
