Minutes West Norwalk Association Board of Directors Meeting
June 1, 2009
Directors in attendance: Peggy Yff, Ron Paladino, Joel Zaremby, Jim Forcellina, William Van Deventer, Bob Wagman, Christopher Potts, Candide Valadares, Galen Wells.
Visitors: Gay Mac Leod
Meeting called to order at 7:32 pm in Meeting House.
Old Business
Minutes from April meeting accepted.
Treasurers report, As of May 31, 2009, $7,411.17.
New Business
Discussion of giving some money in our bank account back to community. Some ideas included, contribution to Fox Run School for educational purposes, continued beautification of West Norwalk, signs for parties and events, remove graffiti, children’s programs i.e. bike riding safety lessons.
Jim Forcellina to draw up budget for contributions and we will discuss ideas at July meeting.
Master plan recommendation was sent to CNNA. CNNA put off decisions until next month. Peggy to attend next CNNA meeting.
Chris Potts discussed Aquifer protection zone whereby the zoning commission will inspect possible pollutants in the water put out by Norwalk businesses. No help for people with wells however.
Joel to see if there is a fire plan for West Norwalk. Possible solution for lack of fire hydrants in West Norwalk. Joel to push whatever is decided is key issue
from master plan to Planning Commission.
Ad rates will appear in next newsletter. Peggy to find out how many hits our web site receives. Current rate $75.00 per insertion per year.
Annual Meeting- Joel to send out possible October dates to board members. Peggy to work on newsletter to be issued by end of August. Jim Forcellina to chair nominations committee and issue how long current members have served. At annual meeting people running for office need to voice their intentions.
Five Mile River Update- New Canaan and Darien have study. New Canaan refusing to make public report. Peggy to send note to Mayor Moccia to see if he can get study.
Adopt-A-Spots- Gay, Candide and Peggy to work to improve spots. Received one complaint that some plants on Hunters lane are too high.
Gay discussed Norwalk-Wilton Tree Festival which attracted 32 vendors and over 900 visitors.
Chris Potts is running for District E Common Council position. Once it becomes official he will need to leave the board until after the elections or until after serving his term of office.
Next meeting July 13.
