Joel Zaremby presented the previous minutes (March 7th) which was unanimously approved.
Joel Zaremby who is the acting treasurer covering for Linda Forcellina stated that there was $5,602.22 in the treasury. Joel informed the board of new expenses which are included in the total, such as $206.00 for a new West Norwalk sign on Old Rock Lane and $275.00 for the Norwalk Little League T-Ball team sponsored by us. In addition the IT bill for maintaining website for this month was $30.
Joel Zaremby mentioned that two people were interested in becoming board members Jamie Herman and Donna Dolle, but they did not show up at the meeting.
Joel Zaremby reviewed the April 16th West Norwalk Cleanup Day taking place at 10:00 am at Fox Run School. He asked board members to show up at 9:15. With the exception of Regina and Chris, all members will volunteer. Galen and Candide have offered to sit at the table and ask people if they are members of WMA.They should bring all documents reflecting status of members/new membership forms. They will officially count how many people show up.
Gay and Joel will guide residents to take the gloves (gifts to keep), garbage bags and pickers. People will be shown the map of West Norwalk and select a place to cleanup. The map will be marked with a poster sticker, so we may keep track of areas being cleaned. A board member to help keep track of the pickers (which must be returned) would be needed. Bob Wagman will bring coffee and donuts. Gay will bring bottles of water (along with garbage bags, pickers, easel, maps, poster notes, markers, banner signs and alert DPW of where to pick up the garbage and how many bags. Candide will bring the two tables and 4 chairs. Candide will offer his truck to help people carry heavy loads of garbage back.
Regina brought up a concern that Dolce has taken away the trash container that was at the edge of the property (facing Little Fox). She spoke with Angel who was the grounds keeper who stated that Dolce people do not litter, and the garbage comes from other people. Joel will email Mike McNeil to follow through.
Chris asked if a Brian McMahon High School student was interested in helping WNA. Joel responded that Linda did not have any luck in getting anyone.
Joel spoke about two properties on West Norwalk road that needed landscaping attention. After Joel contacted the Mayor and DPW one was cleaned up (with DPW) helping to enforce and the other was not cleaned up. Regina asked about a ranch house on Richards Avenue that looked abandoned. Candide stated he was taking care of the property and the house is caught in a legal dispute.
Joel brought up a house fire on Powderhorn road, where the house could not be saved. Fire Chef Dennis McCarthy stated the hydrant was a problem. Chris requested that the Fire Chef come to the annual meeting only if he could confirm that all of the new hose attachments are in place and working. Candide informed the group that Welcome Wagon ideas were discussed with Regina and Anthony. Anthony has gathered coupons from various vendors such as Fairfield County Bank, Wild Tree, Avon and Pampered Chef.
Group Discussion regarding the expansion of West Norwalk’s boundaries. Chris passed out two memos, one to be emailed out to WNA members about the pros and cons of expanding the boundaries. This memo will be voted on and finalized at the annual meeting. The second memo detailed the boundaries and streets to be included.
Regina expressed her concern that Galen (who was not in attendance) had wanted each homeowner to have one vote in Ledgebrook. This would require a change in the constitution as condo units only have one vote. Bob stated that each person may attend our meetings and express their opinion and volunteer to be on the board so long as no one else from the condo unit is currently on the board.
Concern about the extra cost to send out mailing to the half of Ledgebrook not currently receiving the mailing was addressed and noted it would cost about extra $100.
An email blast with the expansion survey will be sent out. Response rates have been about 6%.
Regina spoke about Street Ambassador program. Candide mentioned that the real estate person Donna Dolle can update the MSL list (names/addresses of homeowners).
Meeting adjourned at 8:30. Candide made motion to adjourn. Chris seconded the motion.
Next meeting will be at Fox Run School on May 2nd at 7:30pm.
