Minutes of the West Norwalk Association

April 3, 2012

Board Members present were:  Chris Potts, Galen Wells, Ron Brown, Regina Krummel, Anthony Carrano, Gay MacLeod, Candide Valadares, and Ron Paladino. Linda Forcellina and Peggy Girard had excused absences.

President, Chris Potts, called the meeting to order at 7:45.  He welcomed the Board to the meeting.

Galen Wells presented the minutes of the March meeting. Gay MacLeod moved to accept the minutes and Chris Potts seconded the motion.  The minutes were unanimously accepted.

Donna Dolle’ presented the Treasurer’s Report.  The total in the Treasury is $6,575.22, which includes pledges for the scholarship.  Donna suggested that we open a separate account for scholarship funds.  Anthony Carrano moved that we accept the Treasurer’s Report and open the additional account.  Ron Brown seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously passed.

Gay MacLeod made a report for the Scholarship Committee.  The amount is now up to $400 and all papers have been sent to Brien McMahon. Information about the scholarship will be posted on our web site and on our Facebook page.  Chris said he would send out an email to all of the people on our email list.

Gay appealed for help with the annual Spring Cleanup. Galen will bring coffee, donuts and bottled water but cannot stay.  Candide will be there to help and Joel will help.  She asked other members of the board to help as well.

Chris said we were too late this year to sponsor a T Ball team.  We could still donate to the team even if we could not be a sponsor.  We would be listed as a donor and could be listed on their web site.  Chris made a motion to donate $275 to the T Ball Team.  After some discussion, the motion was tabled.  Chris made a motion to add $275 to the scholarship fund instead.  Regina seconded the motion and the motion unanimously passed.

Anthony brought up the subject of the Mosque proposed on Fillow Street.  He said it will be a large building and will attract unwelcome traffic.  It was pointed out that last year when the condo association across the street made a presentation to us we decided not to take a stand.  The proposed Mosque was not within the boarders of West Norwalk.  Anthony pointed out that it was 3/10th of a mile beyond the boarders.  He suggested we poll our members.   It was pointed out that there was very little time and that any individual could appear at the Zoning Commission and make his or her opinion heard.  Anthony made a motion to poll Members.  Ron Brown seconded the motion.  In a vote, 4 opposed the motion, 1 obtained and 3 voted on favor of the motion.

Ron Paladino made a motion to adjourn.  Chris seconded the motion.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:27.

Respectfully submitted,

Galen Wells, Secretary
