Minutes of the West Norwalk Association
May 2, 2016
Board Members Present: Anthony Carano, Ken D’Arinzo, Brian Forschino, Kristin Clemens, Isabelle Hargrove, Rob Notley & Ted Stepanoff were present.
Anthony called the meeting to order at 7:35pm.
Anthony motioned to approve the March and April minutes, Kristin seconded the motion and the Board members present unanimously approved. Brian agreed to send the March minutes to Dr. Levinson before posting them on the website once comments were received from other Board members.
Treasurer’s Report – Ken D’Arinzo
The current bank balance is $4,942.66. We are expecting an invoice for website maintenance services in addition to the $1,000 check for the scholarship which will be presented on June 1st.
Our account have been being charged for a service charge that is unrelated to the West Norwalk Association. All charges have been reversed and Ken had the Bank permanently discontinue these charges. The Board discussed moving our Bank account from Wells Fargo. Ken agreed to look into options and will provide a recommendation at the June Board Meeting.
New Board Member Welcome – Anthony Carano
Anthony welcomed Ted Stepanoff to his first Board meeting. Ted is a 5 year resident of West Norwalk.
Oak Hills Park Update
There was no update on the status of the driving range.
CNNA Update – Isabelle Hargrove
The main topic discussed was the proposed 95/7 Mall. There was a presentation on the current design proposal for the mall. A current sticking point is the desire to widen the road next to the ramp to 95N.
There is a second zoning meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 4th at City Hall.
West Norwalk Association Scholarship
All Board members agreed that the scholarship should be given to applicant number 2. The community service was very impactful and the speech was very well written. Isabelle will contact Brien McMahon with the name of the winner who will be notified that they have received a scholarship. The presentation ceremony is on June 1st. Ken will reach out to Linda Forcellina to see if she would like to present the scholarship. Isabelle will make sure that she receives an invitation.
Spring Clean Up
The West Norwalk Association Spring Clean-Up is scheduled for May 14th at 10:00am. Board Members will arrive at Fox Run at 9:30am to set up. Anthony agreed to contact the City to get garbage bags and pickers and will bring the West Norwalk Association Banner. Ken agreed to purchase a few cases of water. Isabelle will coordinate with the Norwalk Hour to advertise the date. Stephen will need to update the website and Facebook page and send out an e-mail blast. Anthony will put out signs and will bring a table and a few chairs. Anthony will also reach out to Cub Scout Pack 68 and Boy Scout Troop 222. Isabelle agreed to contact Brien McMahon about their community service website. Anthony offered to reach out to Tom Livingston and John Igneri.
127 Fillow Street Property
The property appears to be boarded up. The City is looking to subdivide the property and build two single family homes. The property is 1.7 acres of AA zoned property. Tom Livingston reached out to Anthony to see if the West Norwalk Association had any issues with the property being subdivided. The City is asking for bids for to develop the property.
Family Fun Day / Summer Social
The Board discussed having an adult spring social as opposed to a family fun day. Anthony believes Dolce could do something for around $20 per head with a cash bar.
Total Wine would only do something on their premises. Brian agree to speak to Omar at Oak Hills.
All Other Business
The Board needs to discuss officer terms at the next Board Meeting as certain terms may be coming up. The Board also discussed the potential need to amend the Bylaws.
Ted raised the issue of multiple recent accidents on Ponus Road. The Board suggested he reach out to Officer Terry Blake.
Anthony closed the meeting at 8:45pm.
