West Norwalk Association April 2021 Board Meeting
Date: April 5, 2021
Members in attendance: Stephen Galyas, Anthony Carrano, Ken D’Arinzo, Brian Forschino, Kristin Clemens
Guests in attendance: Lucy Dathan
This meeting took place via Zoom.
The meeting commenced at 7:23pm.
Old Business
283 Richards Avenue House
Lucy informed the meeting attendees that the 283 Richards Avenue property owners reached out to the State of Connection in regards to connecting the property to the sewer line on Richards Avenue, as well as preparing electrical wires/equipment for appliances. The state declined these requested changes. The owners were told to reach out to the City of Norwalk for additional information.
Lucy commented that building a place of worship on this property would result in high levels of congestion and parking issues, as there are three additional places of worship and a school within one mile of this property.
Anthony mentioned that none of the neighbors near this property reached out to him with updates.
Both Lucy and Anthony said that they noticed a surveyor on the property last Thursday and Friday.
New Business
Donations from 2020 Mailing
Anthony informed the meeting attendees that we received four more donations from West Norwalk residents. Anthony is going to give Stephen a list of the donations received during the last 6 months so he can update the WNA database.
Finances
Kristin reported the WNA’s latest balance.
Earth Day Cleanup
Lucy asked the board members in attendance if they would be interested in working with her to plan an Earth Day cleanup (Earth Day is on April 20, 2021) for West Norwalk.
Anthony asked if the City of Norwalk is planning to sponsor a city-wide Earth Day cleanup this year, as this often interferes with the annual WNA Spring Cleanup. Lucy said that she has not heard if the City of Norwalk will be doing this.
Anthony commented that the WNA has stopped the annual WNA Spring Cleanup because almost no one shows up.
Anthony asked the board members in attendance if we should schedule a Spring Cleanup this year. Kristin was in favor; all others were not.
Anthony will find out if the City of Norwalk is sponsoring the city-wide Earth Day cleanup. If we were to host a Spring Cleanup this year, we would host it in May.
Summer Social
Anthony asked the board members in attendance if they believe that things will be “back to normal” enough to host a Summer Social event, possibly at the Oak Hills restaurant.
The board members in attendance agreed that they would be okay with hosting such as event as long as all attendees are vaccinated.
Kristin commented that according to the Dry Dock Facebook page (Dry Dock will be running the Oak Hills restaurant effective this year), they are going to “build out” the bar and restaurant area at Oak Hills.
Anthony and Kristin stated that if we were to host this event, it would need to take place around or after June.
The meeting concluded at 7:51pm.
