New Canaan Traffic Regulation
Several people have contacted the West Norwalk Association board members regarding the New Canaan Traffic Regulation issue that was discussed during our March 2019 board meeting. One resident of Nursery Street reported to us that they have not noticed a considerable improvement in the traffic flow down this road. Another person reached out to us to discuss the notes he took at our March meeting, as well as to communicate his thoughts on the topic along with suggested solutions to barriers that were brought up at the meeting. Stephen informed this person that the WNA board will continue to monitor the situation.
Stephen mentioned that the digital traffic board installed by the New Canaan Police Department has been replaced with a permanent “no left turn between the following hours” sign installed directly beneath the stop sign at this intersection.
Stephen and Kristin noted that drivers continue to make an illegal left turn at this intersection even though the permanent sign is positioned directly under the stop sign.
None of the WNA board members in attendance have received an email from Terry Blake with an update on this issue.
Anthony commented that the increase in morning work commute traffic throughout the affected streets in West Norwalk is also a result of an increase in Norwalk’s growth in population. He stated that the WNA will continue to monitor the situation.
Spring Cleanup
The board members in attendance came to an agreement that we will hold our Annual Spring Cleanup event in conjunction with the City of Norwalk’s Citywide Cleanup event.
Our Spring Cleanup will take place on April 27, 2019 with a start time of 10:00am. Participants of the city-wide cleanup will meet at City Hall; participants of the WNA Spring Cleanup will meet at Fox Run Elementary School at 10:00am.
Anthony will send Stephen a copy of an advertisement flyer for the city-wide cleanup so he can include it in our email blast to our neighbors.
Stephen will add this event to our website and Facebook page and post an event on Nextdoor; he will also create an email blast draft for the event and send it to the WNA board for approval.
Spring Social
Anthony was unable to follow up with LaKota Oaks last month regarding our Spring Social event. He will follow up with them within the next few weeks.
