West Norwalk Schools and Education

West Norwalk children attend three schools, Fox Run Elemetary, Ponus Ridge Middle School and Brien McMahon High School. Both Fox Run and Ponus are located within West Norwalk Association area. Brian McMahnn is located 3 miles away. Brian McMahon also has the Center For Global Studies, a magnet school providing international emersion study for students from Southern Fairfield County high schools.

Home of the Senators! Brien McMahon High School strives to provide a supportive environment that enables all students to grow academically and personally so that they will be able to contribute to society.

Brien McMahon High School is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges* and has an impressive history of student accomplishments in academic and extra-curricular fields. *2007 Re-accreditation met high standards.

Center for Global Studies

CGS

The Center for Global Studies is an inter-district, international studies magnet school that focuses upon Arabic, Chinese and Japanese language, history, and culture.

Graduates have gone on to schools such as Harvard, Brown, Cornell, George Washington, Columbia, Smith, NYU, and UCONN. A developed fluency in uncommonly taught languages is particularly important for students interested in finance, international business, hotel administration and hospitality services, Ph.D. programs in East Asian or Middle East Studies, teaching or working in East Asia or the Middle East, and for all students interested in East Asian or Middle East culture and languages.
